Where Inspiration Began…
Crucial Trading was formed all the way back in 1986 under the premise of exclusively producing and selling only natural materials which, nearly 35 years ago was innovative to say the least. This innovation and forward thinking is something which Crucial Trading have never lost sight of an example of this is seen in the material Sisool, a blend of wool and sisal which they pioneered in the UK.

Natural Materials
Crucial Trading’s whole ethos is based around using natural and sustainable materials, they scour the globe for the finest quality materials with a meticulous selection process ensuring to pick only what will make the best floorcoverings, but how do you choose…

Wool
Crucial Trading source their wool mainly from New Zealand as it is said to produce the most luxurious wool prized for texture, purity and performance. Wool is a popular choice for floor coverings as it is insulating, textured and luxuriously soft underfoot while still being versatile and hardwearing. You can also get really creative with it due to its ability to hold dye in a variety of colours and pattern formations.

Sisal
Sisal thrives in cruel climates enduring months with little rainfall, Crucial Trading source theirs mainly from Brazil and China. Once selected it is stripped and dried over the course of a month before being crafted into herringbone, boucle, geometric and basket weaves creating a stunning looking exotic floor covering. One that is resilient and hardwearing perfect for rugs, runners and carpets.

Sisool
Crucial Trading have taken the best of both worlds here in creating their Sisool, the perfect blend of wool and sisal. This distinctive mix retains the rustic charm of sisal but with the added softness of wool to form an original and hardwearing floor covering that is again perfect for rugs, carpets and runners.

Coir
Manufactured from coconut husks which have been suspended in water for ten months to soften, Crucial Trading Coir is then beaten to separate the fibers before being woven to form a richly textured hardwearing rug or mat. Coir is the perfect material for injecting some organic beauty into the home.

Jute
Jute thrives during the monsoon season of India; this wet climate makes for one of the softest natural fibers used for flooring. Due to this softness, Jute isn’t as good as other natural fibers in high traffic areas of the home however, the thick fibers and variegated colours provides an insulating, cosy atmosphere to any room.

Seagrass
Crucial Trading’s Seagrass has to withstand a lot of rough treatment before being deemed worthy enough to make an appearance in your home but this is what makes it so hardwearing. Seagrass is arguably the most durable material, it has to endure sea salt, rough seas and intense sunlight before being woven into rugs and carpets. Thanks to its natural colouring it adapts itself well to most rooms and is a static free fiber which means it repels dirt and dust which is great news for allergy sufferers.

All Crucial Trading floorcoverings are treated with a moth repellent to ensure they remain looking their best, other than jute they are all very hardwearing and perfect for high traffic areas of the home and workplace yet areas of high moisture like bathrooms and kitchens should be avoided with any of these materials.
